Listened to KINK this evening–I had heard that they’d stopped doing “Lights out” and replaced it with KINK Live studio performances–in hearing about it, I’d resented the loss of Lights out. So, turned it on for the first time, this evening, and there was that wonderful familiar voice of Les, interviewing Nora Jones.
SO wonderful to hear him………he and his contributions are very much missed.
Of all the entire Kink on air staff I have listened too (Some forty years now) Les was truly unique, his Knowledge of music, his great sense of Humor, and that Velvet voice. How I love the Football bets between himself and Rebecca Webb, the loser of coarse had to sing some silly song like “The TV Theme Song to Rawhide” You could tell they had such a fun and good time doing those songs. I am glade I have recorded a number of these, I just wish that there was a CD of all those songs they recorded and sang that was available. Les was deeply committed and supported of many local area fund raising events like The Oregon Food Bank, Oregon Humane Society, the Smart Program, With the passing of Les they have lost great and valuable ally. Just one last comment – They couldn’t have selected two finer people then Dave and Sheila for the morning show, it’s Like listening to Les and Rebecca , I think Les would have been proud knowing that the morning show is in good hands.
